Grenadian team reaches Trinidad to contest in Sixteenth CARICOM 10K Road Race

St George, Grenada: Ministry of Youth, Sports & Culture has shared an update regarding the hosting of CARICOM’s 50th anniversary in Grenada. The update has informed us that the Grenadian delegation will be participating in the Sixteenth CARICOM 10K Road Race.
As per the official update, the sporting event will take place on July 2, 2023, on the twin island of Trinidad and Tobago.
The update by the Youth Ministry, “The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat will stage the Sixteenth CARICOM 10K Road Race scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 2, 2023, in Port-Of-Spain, Trinidad & Tobago.”
The event will be played under the theme, “50 Years Strong: A Solid Foundation to Build On.”
Reportedly, the race, which begins at 5:00 am in Chaguaramas, will be run along a flat route, starting at Pier 1 along the Western Main Road past the Five Islands Water Park to the Military Gate at Chaqacabana Beach, where it loops back to head East along the Western Main Road to the Finish Line at the Convention Centre.
It also informed that well-seasoned long-distance runner Kenisha Pascal would act as Manager to Grenada’s two selected athletes: Allian Gidharry and Livron Thorne.
The Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture wished the team well as they represent Grenada. They left the island on June 29, 2023 (Thursday).
As per the ‘Calendar of Events’ shared by the managing authorities, the events commenced on July 1, 2023, and will be concluded on July 5, 2023.

July 1 | 16th CARICOM 5K Road Race, Queen’s Park Savannah, POS at 5PM |
July 2 | 16th CARICOM 10K Road Race, Chaguaramas Convention Centre at 4:30 PM |
July 3 | Opening Ceremony 45th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM, Hyatt Regency Trinidad at 4:30 PM |
July 4 | – Flag Raising Ceremony, Chaguaramas Convention Centre at 9 AM
– CARICOM at 50 Concert and Food Festival, NAPA, POS at 6:30 PM |
July 5 | Closing Press Conference, Hyatt Regency, POS at 6:45 PM |
