Government of Dominica welcomed initiatives for clean environment: Education Minister

The Government of Dominica has welcomed the different initiatives to highlight the importance of a clean environment in Dominica. The initiatives resilient would be more beneficial to achieve the goal of more resilient Dominica. Octavia Alfred, Education Minister of Dominica, given this statement which was the speaker at the Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation ceremony of Prize distribution. The ceremony was held at the University of The West Indies Open Campus on Thursday.
Octavia Alfred, Education Minister of Dominica, said that since 2007 the government had been transparent in its mandate to increase their capacity to fight with disasters and ready to solve its aftermaths. In their quest to achieve a new and more resilient Dominica. In this case, they had welcomed initiatives such as those that would highlight the importance of a clean environment.
Octavia Alfred also highlighted that environmental degradation had been proved as a hindrance to the country’s goals, and the education minister also believes that they had an obligation to protect and adopting the sustainable use of their country’s and the planet’s resources. It has been essential to understanding the impact that people’s actions could have on the environment and how they could behave in a more environmentally conscious manner by adopting simple habits. Education Minister Alfred also encouraged everyone to stop littering the surroundings, and the citizens should start disposing of their garbage responsibly.
Education Minister Alfred highlighted that it has been the responsibility of every citizen to improve environmental awareness and change their behaviour against ecological awareness.
Octavia Alfred, Education Minister of Dominica, said that it has been especially important to increase awareness among their children in the home and at their schools about the value of environmental awareness to secure the valuable lives of future generations yet to came.
Octavia Alfred added that she sometimes thought that it has become increasingly clear that their children stand to be more affected by the rapid unfavorable changes brought about by their actions.
Octavia Alfred urged that the education sector must take all steps to empower the young age citizens with the skills and knowledge and the confidence to tackle the problems that they might get in future.
Octavia Alfred said that for their efforts to be successful, they must see the relevance of those issues and welcome the opportunity to acquire the skills they would be in need to be problem solvers and look forward to safe environmental practices.
