Glen Ghost Phillip, Former Minister passes away, PM Terrance Drew mourns loss

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: The former Minister of Technology, Youth and Sports of St Kitts and Nevis, Glen Ghost Phillip has passed away. He was not only a politician but also a very talented athlete who was instrumental in St Kitts and Nevis hosting the first CPL Cricket Finals at Warner Park.

Along with that Phillip was also the first person from St Kitts and Nevis to win a full college basketball scholarship. His sudden demise has profoundly saddened and shocked several citizens of the island nation. The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew also mourned the loss of Glen and took to his social media account and extend his deepest and sincerest condolences to his family members and friends.

While recalling his memories with Phillips, the PM noted that he joined Glen as a candidate on the SKNLP ticket in 2013. He stated that Glen was always supportive and encouraging towards others and has always guided everyone towards the right and developmental path.

He further added that Phillips contribution to the nation as a Member of Parliament and his prominence in basketball is profound which will always and forever be remembered and cherished.

“It is with great sadness that I learnet the death of Hon. Glen “Ghost” Phillip. I extend my deepest condolences to his family and friends,” noted PM Drew.

Moreover, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas also extended condolences to his family, children, relatives and friends. He also wished to God to provide strength and peace to the family of Glen Phillips during this difficult period.

“Iwish we didn’t have to say goodbye to a sports Giant so soon, the late Glen “Ghost”Phillip, former MP Constituency #4 and Member of my Cabinet 2010-2015,” noted Minister Douglas.

The Minister reminisced the outstanding and significant role played by Glen Phillips in the One-to-One Laptop Computer Program whose motto was to provide and mobilize personal computers to the students of Secondary School in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
