St Lucia: The Permanent Representative of St Lucia to the Organisation American States – Elizabeth Darius-Clark has assumed the chair of Organization’s Permanent Council for the next quarter.
Darius-Clark announced that during her tenure, her one of the priorities will be to procure the access to their rights for citizens of the Hemisphere.
She was quoted as “St Lucian leader has been up to take the role of the Chair of the Permanent Council during such a hectic period. This would require great vigilance and deliberate preoccupation. The focus would be on ensuring that we continue to deliver on our mandate of creating more rights for more people.”
Darius-Clark has succeeded the Vice-Permanent Council and Permanent Representative of St Vincent and the Grenadines – Lou-Anne Gaylene Gilchrist.
For her part, Gilchrist stated that Darius-Clark has taken the chair with a lot of experience in diverse areas, such as diplomacy. She has also given pledge to continuously focus on the thematic areas, which were addressed by Warren Hull, who is the outgoing Chair and Permanent Representative of St Kitts and Nevis.
The twin-island Federation’s diplomat will serve as the Council’s Vice-Chair until June 30.
