Dominica: Tourism Ministry hosts Oil Spill National Contingency Planning Workshop
Ministry of Tourism, International Transport, and Maritime Initiatives of the Commonwealth of Dominica shared an update on the recently hosted Oil Spill National Contingency Planning workshop at Jungle Bay Resort of Dominica.

Dominica: The Ministry of Tourism, International Transport, and Maritime Initiatives of the Commonwealth of Dominica shared an update on the recently hosted Oil Spill National Contingency Planning workshop at Jungle Bay Resort of Dominica. The workshop was scheduled from August 16 to August 18.
This workshop was hosted by the government of Dominica, International Maritime Organization (IMO), RAC/REMPEITC and the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Initiatives.
“From August 16th to 18th, #Dominica hosted the Oil Spill National Contingency Planning workshop at Jungle Bay Dominica! The International Maritime Organization (IMO), RAC/REMPEITC, the Government of Dominica, and the Ministry of Tourism, International Transport, and Maritime Initiatives jointly organized,” the transport ministry stated while sharing the update.
During this workshop, the ministries provided certificates to various agencies, having relation with the Maritime. According to the update by the transport ministry, a total of twenty-five (25) Maritime-related agencies such as DASPA, Coast Guard, Oil Companies, Lands and Surveys, Office of Disaster Management, Environmental Health Department, Customs Excise, Fisheries Division, Ministry of Tourism, and Shipping Companies in Dominica received certificates.
The workshop updated about the latest approaches, technologies, and best practices, adopted by maritime nations in preventing and combating oil spills. In Dominica, attach great importance considering that international vessels visit our shores and our Ministry is pursuing expansion of the cruise tourism industry, yachting, and dive tourism sectors.
The Ministry of Tourism and Transport sent a team, which visited the two community outreach drives in Laplaine and Newtown just a week after the Small Business One Stop Shop was launched.
The ministry informed, “We mean business in the small business support unit! Just a week after launching the Small Business One Stop Shop, the team has gone on two community outreach drives in Laplaine and Newtown!”
