Dominica: Prez Charles Savarin reaches UK to attend King Charles III’s coronation

Roseau, Dominica: The President of the Commonwealth of Dominica – Charles Savarin, along with First Lady of the nation Clara Savarin, landed in the United Kingdom to attend the Coronation ceremony of King Charles III. The ceremony has been scheduled to take place on May 6, 2023.

Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit felt delighted about Dominica’s representation in the coronation ceremony. PM took it to social media and expressed that he was honoured to announce the participation of President Savarin in the event.

“Honored to announce that HE President Charles Savarin and Clara Savarin are representing the Commonwealth of Dominica at the coronation ceremony,” PM Skerrit’s tweet read.

Along with this, other leaders of Caribbean countries have also reached the United Kingdom to be a part of such a massive event. As per the update, all the commonwealth leaders met with King Charles III before the coronation ceremony in Marlborough House. All ministers welcomed King as the new head of the Commonwealth.

“Today Commonwealth Leaders met in Marlborough House with King Charles III to welcome him as the new Head of the Commonwealth ahead of the Coronation,” the tweet by the official handle of Commonwealth read.

During the meeting, all the leaders of the region talked about some mutual interests. “Leaders discussed some areas of mutual interest, including the empowerment of the young population of the region, as 2023 is the Year of Youth,” the update informed.

Besides this, the event will also be attended by the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, CSG Patricia Scotland.

King Charles III sat on the throne after Queen Elizabeth II’s death last year in the month of September. According to the released schedule, the ceremony will commence at 11 am (London time), following the arrival of the procession of the King at Westminster Abbey.

The Commonwealth of Dominica and the United Kingdom enjoy cordial relations, and it has always flourished and benefitted under the leadership and guidance of Queen Elizabeth II as Head of the Commonwealth. Last year, when Queen Elizabeth II died, Dominica declared National Mourning for two days.

The Coronation ceremony will be attended by the representatives of almost every Caribbean nations. Representatives, including Prime Ministers, Presidents and Attorney Generals of around nine (09) Caribbean countries will experience this history-making event.
