Dominica: Leaders extend warm wishes on Mother’s Day 2022

Dominica: The world celebrated Mother’s Day 2022 on May 8, 2022 (Sunday). On this special day for mothers, the leaders of the Commonwealth of Dominica extended their warm wishes to the residents of the island-country and the world.

Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit took social media to express best wishes. He extended thanks to all the mothers for their protection, care, sacrifices and love.

PM Skerrit wrote, “l extend best wishes to all the mothers of our nation. I celebrate and honour you for your strength and for your contribution to our families and country as our protectors, providers and caregivers. Thank you for your countless sacrifices and unconditional love.”

“On behalf of the Government of Dominica, I wish you a Blessed and Happy Mother’s Day. May God Bless You,” he added.

Parliament Representative of Roseau Constituency Melissa Poponne-Skerrit also wished the “beautiful mothers”.

She mentioned, “Being a mother means being completely and overwhelmed (in the best possible way) by love, joy, responsibility, and selflessness. Happy Mother’s Day to all the courageous, beautiful and hardworking mothers. Every day is a celebration of your love and care.”

A day earlier, Melissa Skerrit presented the mom’s of 7 newborn babies with gift items. She mentioned that it was heart-warming to share in the joy and happiness experienced by these new mothers.

“My best wishes go out to All Mothers for the love and support provided towards the wellbeing of their children,” she said.

Parliamentary Representative for the Grand Bay Constituency, Dr Vince Henderson, while extending the wishes said, “Having kids, the responsibility of rearing good, kind, ethical, responsible human beings, is the biggest job anyone can embark on. The influence of a mother in her children’s life is beyond calculation.”

Furthermore, he said, “Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers out there. Wishing you a blessed day today. Let’s also not forget that every day should be Mother’s Day.”
