Dominica and China celebrates 20 years of strong ties, PM Skerrit extends gratitude

Roseau, Dominica: The diplomatic relations between Dominica and the People’s Republic of China completes 20 years of success. The 20 years anniversary was celebrated in the form of a reception which was organized by the Embassy of the Commonwealth of Dominica in China.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit extended gratitude to Martin Charles, Ambassador of Dominica to China, as he had a great role in hosting such an event. Also, he extended his thanks towards the students from Dominica who are studying China as they hosted it.

The thanksgiving to both the Ambassador and Students is the gesture towards them for promoting their local culture in the other country. As at the reception, there was a display of Dominican products and culture which itself promotes the heritage of the country.

“It was a lively, celebratory event attended by the officials of the Government of the People’s Republic of China, members of Diplomatic Corp and Dominican students studying in China,” mentioned the Prime Minister.

By stating such a statement, the Prime Minister highlighted the celebrations at the event and highlighted that the event was attended by several of the officials and members from China and Dominican students studying there. And, the liveliness of the event can even be seen from the Glimpses shared by the Prime Minister through Social Media as the people are seen wearing creole colors which significantly presents the mark of cultural showcase.

Recently during the visit to China, the PM Roosevelt Skerrit met the principals of CCECC (China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation) and highlighted that the corporation has contributed a lot towards the infrastructural development of the country. This itself is the epitome that China has been the true friend to Dominica for so long.

This even was once mentioned by the Prime Minister in one of his interviews with China Xinhua News. The strengthened connections between both countries (Dominica-China). And, the mark of celebrations for the strengthened bond is even being appreciated by the public of the country.

“What a sight for this partnership that we have with China bringing closer ties in our relationship,” quoted one.

“It’s such a historical moment to watch our Dominican folks proudly representing,” commented another.
