Cruise Season 2024-25 officially opens in Grenada with arrival of Holland America’s Zuiderdam

The Grenada Tourism Authority marked the official opening of the Cruise Season 2024-25 with the arrival of Holland America’s Zuiderdam in St. George’s. The vessel docked at the shores of the island nation on 30th October, 2024, and brought around two thousand passengers to the island nation.

The Tourism Authority welcomed 1,964 guests along with 817 crew members and offered them an opportunity to explore the vibrant beauty and charm of the Spice Isle. Each passenger who boarded the cruise ship received a prestigious welcome with the exceptional hospitality of the tourism authority.

The cruise tourists had the opportunity to witness the vibrant culture and traditions of the Spice Isle. As, the local artists gathered in large numbers to entertain the passengers with drumming, dancing, offering them with an experience like no other.

As per the details, this cruise season 2024-25 in Grenada is anticipated to welcome over 200 cruise calls which includes, the inaugural visit by 7 vessels. The arrival of these cruise calls will play a huge role in bringing thousands of passengers to the country, raising the appeal of Grenada as a top Caribbean destination.

The tourism authority added that the arrival of each vessel would play a significant role in supporting the local communities and bringing a huge amount of revenues to craft vendors, family businesses, tour operators, eateries and many other.

They added that they are committed to providing unforgettable experiences for all cruise passengers, aiming to strengthen their vibrant tourism economy and elevate the sector to greater heights.

The CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority, Petra Roach, also shared her views on the opening of the cruise season 2024-25. She added that every cruise season brings vast opportunities along with it, which strengthens the reputation of the island nation as a unique Caribbean gem.

She further shed light on the significance of the Cruise Season for Grenada and stated that it is vital not just for economic contributions but also for the opportunities it brings to showcase the culture, creativity, and environmental commitment of the island nation.

CEO Roach further mentioned about highlighting new attractions and unlocking several exciting adventures for all the passengers, showcasing them the unique appeal of Grenada. She also mentioned about local entrepreneurs and added that the cruise tourism plays a huge role in addressing the unemployment gap by providing a boost to the small businesses.

Moreover, the CEO of the Grenada Tourism Authority ensured to align with diverse initiatives undertaken by the cruise industry. The initiatives include, updating emissions standards, implementing waste reduction strategies and promoting responsible visitor management to minimize its environmental footprint.
