Chaguanas: Man accused of breaking into home naked & sexually assaulting woman
A 21-year-old man was arrested recently after a 59-year-old woman from Chaguanas accused him of breaking into her home naked and attempting to sexually assault her.

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: A 21-year-old man was arrested recently after a 59-year-old woman from Chaguanas accused him of breaking into her home naked and attempting to assault her sexually.
According to the reports, the incident took place at around 6:30 am on Tuesday when the woman was sleeping in her home. During that time, she woke up to some noises in her home.
She got out of her bed to inspect the area where she saw a man she knew walking towards her. A 59-year-old woman was terrified when she saw a man naked. She tried to run to her room but was caught by a 21-year-old man.
The victim told the police that the accused tried to disrobe (undress) her and sexually assaulted her. She became unconscious. However, the woman somehow managed to scream and raise the alarm.
In due course of time, a male relative, who was in the house at the time, came to her help. He fought with the accused and saved the woman. A 21-year-old then fled the scene.
The man immediately reported the matter to the Central Division police of Chaguanas, and the officers responded to the case. They started their investigation and detained the suspect, who is said to be from Enterprise, at a short distance.
A 21-year-old male is currently taken into custody, and W-Cpl King is continuing the further investigation of the case.
As per sources, the woman’s condition was not good, as she was advised to seek medical attention by the investigating officer who had been assigned the case.
The people across the region took to their Facebook handle to express their concern for the woman. While reacting to the news, a person named Sammy Joe commented, “Now this lady will be traumatized and may suffer health issues from this incident. So just imagine a gun pointed at your head. I still live in fear and it’s not a nice experience when it happens at your home.”
Such stances of crimes are not new in the country as people experience similar crimes every alternate day. The authorities are urged to take serious action and implement strict laws to combat such criminal activities.
