Match 1: St Kitts & Nevis Patriots vs. Antigua & Barbuda Falcons
The St Kitts & Nevis Patriots nicked the opener of the CPL 2024 in a nail-biter against the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons off the last ball. The contest at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua was just what any competition would want as an opener, with the sides competing fiercely.
The Patriots opted to bowl first in order to put a leash on the Falcons’ batting lineup. However, the latter were able to post a fighting total of 163/4, thanks to a great innings from young star Jewel Andrew, a half-century on his CPL debut, and also to the good contribution of Fakhar Zaman, which gave them a fine start.
The Patriots, in reply, had many hiccups as wickets kept falling at regular intervals. However, a fighting 39 from Kyle Mayers kept them in the hunt. The game continued into the last ball, wherein the Patriots needed one run.
Composed under pressure, Anrich Nortje led his team to a thrilling victory for the Patriots at 164/9. The one-wicket win spoke volumes of CPL’s competitiveness and unflagging spirit displayed by the Patriots.

The Falcons still smarting from the close finish of the first game, for their second test came none other than the defending champions, Guyana Amazon Warriors. This being an important game for the Falcons, who sought to make a comeback and get a win in this tournament.
Guyana had its share of problems hidden beneath the surface, though. First, the star player Saim Ayub was denied a NOC by the Pakistan Cricket Board, and the team had to cope without him. Still, the Warriors came into the match confident on the experience of players like Shai Hope, the top run-scorer of CPL 2023.
