Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: A Beretta Pistol, ammunition and marijuana were recovered during an Operation Safe Streets exercise in the Philip Avenue. The South Western Division officers executed the exercise and arrested six persons.
The South Western Division ranks were on a mobile patrolling during an operation on Sunday. They detained a green Nissan Almera vehicle, which consisted four individuals at Philip Avenue.
While executing a search inside the vehicle, the officers found a Beretta Pistol under the driver’s seat, loaded with a magazine and contained two rounds of ammunition. Several questions were asked from the person who were inside the car.
As a consequence, the police arrested all of the four suspects. They were recognised as a 54-year-old man from Penal Rock Road and three Venezuelans nationals, including two males of age 24 and 29 and a 22-year-old female.
The investigating officers proceeded further and they managed to arrest two suspects in possession of Marijuana. As per the information, one of them was recognised as a 20-year-old male from Beckless Street Penal, while another was a 33-year-old from Sobo Village at La Brea.
Noting this, the ranks took the items to the police division, where they were weighted as totaling 113.42 grams. The exercise was coordinated by Senior Supt Remy, ASP Mathura, ASP Corrie, ASP Simon, and Inspector Prescott.
The investigation of the cases is ongoing. The Trinidad and Tobago Police Services (TTPS) expressed their commitment to work diligently in order to provide citizens security. With the rise in crimes, people are now asking to take serious action and implement strict rules to combat the problem of a spike in criminal activities.
The people of the nation lauded the untiring efforts of the police department for acting immediately on the information received by them. They took to their Facebook handles to express their pride for the TTPS ranks. Some of the comments read as,
