Tarrique Edward to represent Saint Lucia at Under-19 World Cricket Championship

Tarrique Edward set to join West Indies Under-19 team-mates for the 2024 ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cricket Championship in South Africa.

Castries, Saint Lucia: Tarrique Edward set to join West Indies Under-19 team-mates for the 2024 ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cricket Championship in South Africa.

It is to be noted that the 15th edition of the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup is getting underway on January 19, and 2 matches will be played on the inaugural day.

Edward left Saint Lucia on Tuesday, January 09, for Barbados, where he is supposed to join other members of his squad, and they will prepare ahead of departing to South Africa for the World Championship.

Further, Edward will also serve as a ‘Captain’ of Saint Lucia’s team. Moreover, his hard work and performance were lauded and acknowledged by the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association as he sought to introduce himself on the international stage.

“We wish him the best on this journey and encourage him to keep flying our flag high. We know that he will give a good account of himself in South Africa, and we wish him and the entire West Indies team the best of luck in South Africa”, SLNCA president Wayne Auguste stated.

While recognising the young Windies, Auguste further remarked, “will be up against the best of the best of the competing countries, their best Under- 19s, so he Tarrique and the other Windies Under-19s must perform against those guys and establishing themselves as knowing what to do in certain on filed situation.”

Notably, Ireland will compete with the USA, and South Africa will set a match with West Indies at Blofemntion and Potchefstroom, respectively.
