Barbados to host Journey of Food on Oct 21

The Journey of Food is all set to start on 21st October, Saturday in Barbados. It will have an intimate dinner in breathtaking locations featuring esteemed guests: Shelina Permallo, Juan Diego Vanegas, Wayne Maynard, Renee Blackman and Mixologist Rohan Hackshaw.

Shelina Permaloo is the winner of 2012 BBC’s Master Chef, and she will be featuring from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Primo Restaurant for $195 BDS.

Colombian Celebrity TV Show Chef Juan Diego Vanegas & Wayne Maynard, Chef of Colony Club, will attend this dinner from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at Colony Club for $ 315 BDS.
An intimate dinner featuring Chef Renee Blackman and Mixologist Rohan Hackshaw will take place at 02 Beach Club at Oro Restaurant $325 BDS from 6:00 p.m.

The Journey of Food is a part of the Barbados Food and Rum Festival. This festival is held every year to celebrate the Rum tradition. Rum is a drink made up of local sugar cane and involves 40 % alcohol.

This festival marks the significance of varied and rich cultural heritage and well-renowned rum. At this festival, various local and international chefs come together and prepare delicacies pleasing to all the senses.

This festival will take one on a unique energy filled with music, food, energy and rum and complete fun.

This year, the festival will take place from 19th to 22nd October.

Schedule of the event:

  • 19th October: The event will offer the island’s most famous fish fry under the stars at the Oistins Bay Garden to showcase the fusion of Bajan cuisine and culture.
  • 20th October: This day will take the citizens on a Rum route for an extraordinary journey filled with rum, music and food.
  • 21st October: On this day, the event will offer a premium all-inclusive Rise and Rum breakfast beach party with a dress code of yellow colour.

Also, it will conduct a Bajan Fair with non-stop laughter, music and food for the entire family.

Local foods and many more things to explore.

It will also have a Junior Chef Cook-off Competition for aspiring young chefs to showcase their skills and creativity.

22nd October: The festival will celebrate its great grand finale in the form of Liquid Gold Feast with a black tie as a dress code.
