Barbados Police Service apprehended and charged a vendor for the offence of possessing narcotics for the purpose of trafficking it. The incident took place at Swan Street, Bridgetown, St Michael.

Barbados: The officials of the Barbados Police Service apprehended and charged a vendor for the offence of possessing narcotics for the purpose of trafficking it. The incident took place at Swan Street, Bridgetown, St Michael.
Notably, the accused has been identified as a 41-year-old Jason Omar Desmond Trotman and a resident of Fordes Road, Brittons Hill, St Michael.
According to the information, on 5 January 2024, the suspect was arrested for various offences. The offences include, Possession of Cannabis and he was also apprehended for the purpose of trafficking cannabis. The charge of Possession of cannabis with intent to supply was also read to him. He was also charged for assault leading to the bodily harm of a Police Constable 2329 Kiano Brito.
It is to be noted, that the accused, Omar Desmond Trotman was taken to the District ‘A’ Magistrate’s Court the next day of the offence he committed i.e. Friday, 6th January 2024. He was presented before the Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes where he was pleaded guilty for the offence he committed.
He was placed on bail for a period of six months and was asked to follow the rules, which if broken, would result in a fine worth $750 or else he’ll be sent into the prison. He was also prohibited from visiting Swan Street until the matter was resolved and an investigation was completed.
Considerably, the matter has been adjourned till now and the next hearing will be conducted on 18 January 2024 regarding his offence of Assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
