Barbados kicks off 2024-2025 cruise season with grand welcome for Seven Seas Grandeur

Barbados: The cruise season 2024-2025 officially kicked off in Barbados on November 1, 2024, as the Seven Seas Grandeur sailed into the Port of Bridgetown for the first time.

The cruise arrived with Captain Aristeidis Mertzanis and his 548 crew members and 681 guests, several of whom disembarked and explored the island, with many participating in excursions and providing good business to local vendors, tour guides and taxi drivers.

As the Seven Seas Grandeur arrived on the island for its maiden call, it was welcomed by the representatives of Barbados Port Inc and Platinum Port agencies.

The officials hosted a plaque exchange ceremony aboard the cruise and expressed their gratitude to the captain for sailing the luxurious cruise to the island nation.

The one-year-old luxurious vessel set sail in November 2023 and has so far cruised 18 voyages in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, as well as two transatlantic crossings, all of which ranged from 7 to 16 nights in length.

This is the sixth vessel of the Regent luxury travel fleet and boasts a 1600 piece art collection which comprises of multiple Picassos along with a 40 foot tall hand woven tapestry and the first Fabergé Egg to reside permanently at sea.

According to the information, the vessel stayed in Barbados for an entire day and left at night for St George’s, Grenada.

The arrival of Seven Seas Grandeur marked the official beginning of the cruise season in Barbados, with the tourism officials now looking forward to a successful season with a number of cruises arriving with thousands of passengers that will be directly or indirectly injecting into the economy of Barbados.

Notably, while Barbados might be a small Caribbean island, but there are tons of things to do on the island, offering the passengers with the chance to indulge in a number of offerings including the local food, local goods and services and much more, making their journey one to remember for a lifetime.
