Roseau: UK-based world’s largest government advisory and marketing firm has ranked Dominica as the third safest place in the region of the Caribbean and Latin America in its World Citizenship Report (WCR). The island followed Uruguay with 82 and Costa Rica with a score of 79.
With this, now the Caribbean island has become 36th safest place in the world. New Zealand and Iceland topped the ranking with a score of 96, followed by Switzerland with a score of 94.
Meanwhile, among the other Caribbean nations who managed to get their name on the list is Barbados bagging 77 scores and St Vincent and the Grenadines, with 75 score.
The report of the UK-based company has evaluated countries across the world in different components such as – Safety and Security, Economic Opportunity, Quality of Life, Global Mobility, and Financial Freedom.
As per to the CS Global Partners, Dominica is of high standing, as the government aims and prioritises the speedily developing climate-resilient infrastructure in the island country. Dominican government aims to make it is as the world’s first-ever climate-resilient country.
The island also ranks high in categories such as – voice & accountability, where citizens feel empowered to hold leaders responsible for their demands and needs.
“Although the region has seen several natural disasters in recent years, the government has taken action to prioritise climate resilience with weatherproof infrastructure. The region has also placed focus on physical safety, the rule of law, as well as political stability,” the report further underscores.
The score of the Caribbean island in various other components:
- Quality of Life: 66.8, ranking 85th in the world,
- World Citizenship Global Rankings: 66.8, bagging 52 nd position worldwide,
- Economic Opportunity: 59.9, worldwide 63 position,
- In Global Mobility: 66.6, bagging position of 39 in the world,
- In Financial Freedom: score 57.9, position – 65th worldwide.
CS Global Partners further highlights, Dominica is politically and economically stable, who is having a low crime rate and affluent investment opportunities.
