St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda: The Antigua and Barbuda High Commission in London, United Kingdom, praised the cricketers from the Antigua Exchange Programme, Demetri, Ajahrie, and Essan, who are shining bright as they represent the country in a thrilling match with the prestigious Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).
“Our talented cricketers from the It’s incredible to witness the camaraderie and sportsmanship on the field as they showcase their skills and passion for the game,” it noted through the official social media handle.
Furthermore, it stated that the cricket stars of Antigua and Barbuda also had the privilege of meeting the one and only renowned UK actor Stephen Fry. “What a fantastic moment for our team and the exchange program,” it expressed.
In addition to this, the Embassy also mentioned that this is what sports are all about—bringing people together, creating unforgettable memories, and celebrating the spirit of competition and friendship.
“Let’s cheer on our cricket heroes and wish them the best of luck while in the UK!” it asked the general public of the nation.
Earlier, it shared a glimpse of the matches that would be played by the U’19 Cricket Team of Antigua and Barbuda. “Congratulations on embarking on this incredible journey to the UK,” it underlined during the start of the camp.
The tour with ten matches, including seven One Day Internationals, is bound to be a fantastic opportunity for our talented players to showcase their skills and compete against esteemed opponents such as Loughborough University, Marylebone Cricket Club, and the ACE Programme. This experience will undoubtedly help them grow as athletes and individuals, according to the update.
Additionally, it stated that beyond the sporting aspect, this tour is a testament to the power of sports diplomacy, bringing people from different cultures together through the love of cricket. It’s a chance to build strong international friendships and foster cultural exchange, promoting understanding and camaraderie among nations.
