Antigua and Barbuda honors tourism gems at “Tourism Awards Gala Night”

Antigua and Barbuda hosted a Tourism Awards Gala Night, which was held at Casa Palmadita on Saturday, December 9, 2023. A total of 12 awards were presented with 55 nominees feud for recognition.

The event was organized under the theme, ‘Diamonds: The Crowned Gems.’ The nominees have demonstrated excellence and remarkable achievements towards the Tourism Industry throughout the year.

Winners in the Award Categories are as follows,

  • ABHTA Employee of the Year: Hilma Joseph for Carlisle Bay
  • ABHTA Supervisor of the Year: Joslyn Williams for Carlisle Bay
  • Young Hotelier of the Year: Michelle Seaforth for Mill Reef Club
  • Rising Star of the Year: Tammica Mendoza for Sandals Grande Antigua
  • Chef of the Year: Ronald Wilson for Blue Waters Hotel
  • Young Chef of the Year: Jean-Pierre Tuitt for Jumby Bay Island Resort
  • Port Frontline Employee of the Year: Andre Norton for Antigua Cruise Port
  • Transportation Service Provider of the Year Antigua: Andre Friday for Antigua and Barbuda St John’s Taxi Association
  • Social Media Excellence Award: Cocobay Resort Antigua
  • Digital Marketing Excellence Award: Cocobay Resort Antigua
  • Tour Guide of the Year: Shawn Weathered for Antigua VIP Tours

Additionally, Dennis Friday, Esq, and his son Andrey Friday graciously accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Nominees are featured from companies such as Antigua and Barbuda St John’s Taxi Association, United Taxi Company Antigua Limited, Antigua VIP Tours, and Antigua and Barbuda Customs and Excise Division, among others.

Notably, they are recognized for their tireless efforts and outstanding contributions to enhancing the tourism of this island nation. They have even look forward to every single need of the travellers.

The award ceremony was sponsored by the Barbuda Cottages, Carlisle Bay, Cocobay Resort, The Inn at English Harbour, Royalton Antigua and Curtain Bluff, among others.

The Door Raffle Prizes were distributed to the sponsors for contributing to the Gala Ceremony. The prizes included Abbott’s Jewelry and Perfumery, Antigua Rainforest Zipline Tour, Ana’s On the Beach Restaurant, Antigua Vintage Tea House and many more.
