31-year-old Jamaican shot to death, investigation ongoing

Westmoreland, Jamaica: A 31-year-old man was shot to death at Amity Cross Road in Westmoreland on Friday night. The two accused are on the run, and authorities are probing the matter in detail. 

The victim has been identified as Randy Richardson alias ‘Tattoo’ who is a labourer of Hertford Crossing in Petersfield in the parish and Anchovy in St James, Jamaica.

As per the details shared by the authorities, the victim, Richardson was sitting with a few of his friends at the shooting area when two men in a motorcycle aboard drove up. Subsequently, a passenger sitting behind the driver of the motorcycle disembarked and fired a gun at the victim, resulting in a hit to the victim’s upper body. 

Following that, the accused escaped in the Piper’s corner direction on the motorcycle. Notably, the friends of the victim were not hurt and did not receive any injury during the incident. 

The authorities were later called and on arrival they found Randy Richardson lying on his back with what appeared to be several gunshot wounds to his upper body. Therefore, the victim was taken to the Savanna-la-Mar Public Hospital where the doctors thoroughly examined him and pronounced him dead

Moreover, the authorities are conducting a deep investigation into the matter in order to arrest both the accused for the offence they committed. The officers have also requested the citizens to assist them if they have any information about the incident. 

Several residents of the community took to their social media accounts and extended condolences to the deceased expressed their concern regarding the open firing and highlighted the daily crimes taking place in Westmoreland. 

One person with a Facebook account Beryl Simpson commented “There’s not a day that Westmoreland is not in the news.”

Another person commented, “May god protect our country, crimes are increasing so much, authorities need to take strict actions.”

The residents of the community have requested the administration to take stringent actions, to ensure the security and safety of the nation. They have shown their concern about increasing crime activities occurring in the country.
