President Jovenel Moïse declared, “I want that to be clear in everyone’s mind. This new Constitution must preserve all the democratic guarantees guaranteed by the 1987 mother law. It must create more harmony between the 3 State powers. It must be simple, clear and easily applicable. It must be modern. It must correspond to our culture as a people.”

Features of New Constitution:
According to President Jovenel Moïse, The mother of this law excluded from the country’s political affairs more than 3 million Haitians because they do not live on the national territory. At the same time, about 40% of the country’s gross domestic product is on their backs. Many have the expertise and skills to help the country cover the way for economic development and growth.

Old Governance Problems:
President reminded the problems of old governance by saying, “We all agree that there are major problems in the country’s governance. There is no balance between the 3 State powers. A Power always joins collision. This makes corrupt oligarchs use their institutions to block the State from helping the people. They reconstruct the State into a greedy State working for their own interests only.”

On the other hand, President says, “The year 2021 is a very significant year for the future of the country, We call it the “Year of the Constitution, the Year of Elections and Electricity.”

As a leader he urged, “We need the support, good faith, the competence of all Haitians, all the representative sectors of the country to carry out these reforms, The time has come for us to stick together, to come together to find a good way to get the country out of where it is today.”
