On Friday, January 01, 2021, PM Harris welcomed citizens with warm wishes of ‘New Year’ and initiated his speech with the present scenario. He declared that “We will rebuild our workforce and redouble our efforts to keep the Federation healthy and safe.”
Dr Timothy Harris explained the list of initiatives that can increment the growth of citizens and the country. The pay-for-performance programme will be rebuild while revisiting the Regulations and Laws governing the public service. The government will emphasise on upsurging the levels of E-payments and E-government.
Provision of free Wi-Fi hotspots Centres of St Kitts with an offering of up to 200 specially developed High-Speed Internet Packages to approved entrepreneurs by the new Ministry of Entertainment, Entrepreneurship and Talent Development as well as households.
Education & Empowerment:
Authorities of St Kitts and Nevis is working on the field of employment of every capable and educated citizen who can add fortune to the country’s future. The government has budgeted $10 million to defray economic and other costs of student’s involvement in tertiary-level training, at the University of the West Indies (UWI), University of the Virgin Islands (UVI), Monroe, and others. The Tertiary level of education makes the most significant contribution to the country’s growth and development. This will be complemented with the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme.
Businesses and Occupation:
Due to crisis, people have suffered a lot so as government. It is needed to find an accurate solution; hence, govt. extends the due date for the payment of Businesses and Occupation Licenses for all Businesses from January 31, 2021, until March 31, 2021. They will enforce that the Inland Revenue Department works with concerned businesses to help them stay current with their existing tax accountabilities by allowing them to enter low-interest repayment methods to facilitate their cashflow situations.
Nevis’s Law Enforcement:
PM Harris announces “substantial direct calling allocations totalling well over $220 million since 2015, We have assisted law enforcement: a brand new Police Station and Fire Hall at Newcastle and the installation of CCTV.”
