Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: A 32-year-old woman assaulted a police officer by kicking him during the time of her arrest. The incident occurred on Sunday, October 29, 2023. She was asserted in Moruga where she allegedly misbehaved with police official.
A team of officers were conducting mobile patrols off Moruga (village in Trinidad and Tobago) Road when they saw a woman wearing camouflage pants, standing near a bar.
The officers then approached the woman and during the inquiry they asked if she belonged to Trinidad and Tobago Regiment however the lady responded negatively to them.
They tried to informed her about the offence and the woman started to raise her voice loud and made a scene then and there.
She was then cautioned against the offense of Disorderly Behaviour, before she walked away and got into the passenger seat of a silver Wingroad wagon which was located nearby.
The officers again proceed towards the lady and informed her of the crimes that were committed and move forward to place her under arrest.
The woman desisted from the arrest and in a moment, she kicked the officer for several times and hit him on the chest and abdomen.
She has gone to a severe level where she removed her camouflage pants and disrespectfully threw them at one of the officers, which hit him in the face.
After all the hustle, the woman calmed down and finally agreed to go to the nearby police station for the further investigation. She went along with the lawmen where she was later arrested.
The 32-year-old who belongs from St Clair Village in Moruga is supposed to face multiple charges as a consequence of this happened incident which includes,
- Obscene Language
- Possession of camouflage clothing
- Resisting arrest
- Disorderly behaviour
- And Mainly, Assaulting a Police Officer
This is a matter of great concern where a police officers have to face such assaults especially while performing their duties. There is need to take strict action and produce such laws which can save people as well as police officers from such crimes.
