Two suspects apprehended for possessing firearms and marijuana
Two Firearms, Ammunition and Marijuana Seized in the Pinto and Arima Station districts yesterday during crime eradication exercise.

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: Reportedly, police arrested two suspects during the crime eradication exercises and seized two firearms and a quantity of marijuana in the Pinto and Arima Stations districts.
Notably, the officers conducted a four search warrants in the Pinto and Arima districts on November 17, 2023 between 9 am and 1 pm.
Police charged one suspect of age 47-years of Demerara Road for the possession of a Firearm and Ammunition as they discovered and captured one Glock 19 pistol, magazine and 15 rounds of 9 mm ammunition during the search.
On the basis of information received by the officers, they discovered 1.57 kilograms of marijuana during a search in an open stranded lot in the vicinity of Omeara Road and Samaroo Village.
The operation was coordinated by ACP Subero, Senior Supt Francis, ASP Pitt, Supt Carthy, ASP Trumpet, Inspector Mascall and Inspector Jugmohan among Sgt Naitram, PC Durity and W/Cpl Thomas Moran as the spearhead and supervisor of the case.
PC Persad and Ag Cpl Sandy among others received an information familiar to a man in possession of a firearm in the vicinity of a basketball court.
This is to be noted that this incident happened during their process duty in the Arima district.
Notably, the party of officers proceeded to the suggested location and they, then observed the suspect seated in the pavilion area on the eastern side of the basketball court.
The personnel immediately approached the suspect and informed him of their observations and cautioned him. It is to be noted that they found one Beretta pistol with one extended magazine loaded with 19 rounds of ammunition in his side bag.

The culprit was arrested and taken to the Arima Municipal Police Station along with the aforementioned items seized from him during the search.
The investigation of the case is going on under the supervision of PC Cumberbatch.
