Trinidad & Tobago police nabs 10 suspects, recovers 11 firearms from the spot

The police officials of Trinidad and Tobago arrested ten suspects and seized 11 firearms in Pt Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago on Monday, 20th November 2023.

The police officials of Trinidad and Tobago arrested ten suspects and seized 11 firearms in Pt Fortin, Trinidad and Tobago on Monday, 20th November 2023.

While launching the Operation Horizon exercise, the authorities of Trinidad and Tobago apprehended ten people, which includes two locals and eight Venezuelans.

On Sunday, 19th November 2023, the officials of South Western Division, Point Fortin Municipal Police and the members of Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force stopped a Kia Panel van in the nearby area surrounding Chatham South Trace, Point Fortin.

As per the details, “The 29-year-old man was driving a Kia Panel van and he was accompanied by a 23-year-old man.”

On searching the front portion of the vehicle, the officials found one revolver containing five rounds of .38 ammunition, which was seized by the officials.

While continuing their search, the authorities found 9 natives of Venezuela sitting in that van. They also discovered a 4-year-old baby sitting at the back of the van.

At the same time, the officials also found a bag at the back of the van.

The things that were found inside the bag:
– Eight revolvers
– Two 9 mm pistols, both pistols were fitted with magazines along with seven rounds of .38 ammunition.
– Two white boxes, with each box containing 24 rounds of 12-gauge cartridges.

Not only this, the police officers also found a plastic bag which had a quantity of cocaine and 28 bottles of Venezuelan alcohol in it.

Thus, all of the items found by the officials were seized and the persons were arrested by the officers.

The 4-year-old child, who was found in the van, was handed over to his relative, Cpl Charles.

The officials investigating the matter are CoP Erla Christopher, ACP Kelvern Thompson and
Supt Balkaran.

Moreover, a few days back, another case was registered, where a 24-year-old man was arrested by the officers of Valencia Police Post for the charge of possessing a revolver and two rounds of .38 ammunition.

As per the information shared by the officials, when they received the report of an armed man at Valencia Old Road, the matter was responded to immediately by the Valencia Criminal Investigations Department, Special Patrol Unit and Eastern Division Emergency Response Patrol.

Subsequently, the officials took action and arrested the suspect.
