St Kitts and Nevis: Beekeepers from St Kitts and Nevis secured positions in three best honey categories at the OECS Honey Show in Saint Lucia, a three-day event from December 8 to 10, 2023. By winning, the participants made their country proud.

The positions attained by specific participants under the categories are as follows:

  • Third in Light Amber Honey and Second in Comb Honey by Winston Atta Hobson
  • Second in Medium Amber and Third in Comb Honey by Monroe Tweed

Moreover, the participants amazed the nation by competing with around hundreds of bottles and jars of honey presented there. They won the positions among all the competitors and honey farmers present from the entire OECS (Organization of Eastern Caribbean States).

Vernon and Natural showed their participation at the events and presented an honor to the team. Also, the master Beekeeper, Richard Matthias, shared his support and encouragement.

OECS Honey Show

The 3rd OECS Honey Show was held in Saint Lucia and was supported by the Bio Space Project in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program and GEF Small Grants Program. This program is set with the objective of providing grants and funds to local organizations.

Likewise, the Annual Honey Show is set with the aim of encouraging apiculture in the region. There were three different events held at the show:

  1. Exhibition
  2. Honey Tasting
  3. Honey Competition

All these events were held on different days at Constitution Park, Castries, Saint Lucia. On the first two days of the event, December 8 and 9 had entries for the honey competition and the selling of honey products.

However, the event that took place on December 10 was held at a different location, Rodney Bay Marina, where participants from the whole Caribbean region presented their products.

The competition was intense, with entries being compared, making it interesting during the declaration of results. Participants from St Kitts and Nevis brought pride to their nation.
