Castries, Saint Lucia: HelpAWS, animal welfare organisation of Castries, shared a heart breaking post about a pup who suffered a lot in his little pup. “If terror and neglect had a face, this is it. You have suffered a lot in your short life, little one, that has left you looking so shattered. Where have you been, and how did it come to be that you would dare to try to cross a busy road? Where were you going?” the post by the organisation mentioned.
It further mentioned that if only puppies could talk, the organisation can only imagine the stories they would tell. But no matter- their eyes and body language say more than words ever could. Even though HelpAWS can only guess what life might have been like for Rose before she was rescued from almost being run over and then brought into the shelter, the organisation know it could not have been easy for her.
“Although many of our intake stories sound the same with animals coming to us after being abandoned or born into dangerous conditions, dodging cars on roads, living among metal and trash or even in a tree trunk, each puppy is completely unique in the way they process their trauma. Some respond quickly to suddenly finding themselves being loved and cared for, while it takes others much longer to begin to trust and realize they are safe,” the social media post outlined.
It further mentioned that little Rose is lucky, but so is the organisation. She is lucky she will never have to brave life on her own again, and the organisation is lucky that we get to love her and put her on the path to a happy, healthy life. There’s the old saying, “who rescued who”? That doesn’t just apply to the amazing adoptive families our babies end up joining; it applies to us as well.
“Each and every animal that comes through the shelter doors teaches us lessons and owns a piece of our hearts. There are too many instances to count when sweet puppy kisses or cuddles have gotten us through a tough day. They give us purpose and fill our hearts with joy as we watch them grow to be healthy and live the lives each of them deserves. We don’t yet know the lesson little Rose will teach us, but our hearts are already full of joy that she is here, safe at the shelter,” it concluded.
