Roseau Central: Govt of Dominica handover keys to 51 families
The Government of Dominica handed over the keys to homes to around 51 families of the Roseau Central Constituency on April 7, 2022 (Thursday).

Dominica: The Government of Dominica handed over the keys to homes to around 51 families of the Roseau Central Constituency on April 7, 2022 (Thursday).
The beneficiaries received the housing units at the City Breeze Apartments, located on the Upper River Bank. These homes are spacious, modern and built to the highest standards.
These units will consist of 52 residential units and 8 commercial space, having one, two and three bedrooms. The construction of these units commenced on August 2020 and was completed in April 2022.
During the handover ceremony, Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit congratulated the 51 families and expressed their pleasure. PM Skerrit mentioned, “My heart is filled with gladness for 51 families of the Roseau Central Constituency, who received keys to new homes last evening. The units at the City Breeze Apartments, located on the Upper River Bank, are spacious, modern and built to the highest standards.”
Furthermore, he added that the Government of Dominica is glad for providing quality and resilient shelter, which assures greater peace, security as well as comfort for the Dominican people.
“This gift of quality, resilient shelter from the Government and People of Dominica assures residents greater peace, security and comfort; and an enhanced sense of belonging and independence. I extend heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the beneficiaries,” he underscored.
The handover ceremony was attended by many other Cabinet members, including the Parliamentary Representative of Roseau Central Constituency – Melissa Poponne-Skerrit.
Melissa Skerrit also congratulated the families and expressed her gratitude for officially handover the keys to the 51 apartments.
Parliamentary Representative stated, “I was delighted to officially hand over apartment keys to 51 families of the Roseau Central Constituency on Thursday 7, April of the newly constructed City Breeze Apartments located on the Upper River Bank.”
Besides this, she counted a few qualities of these apartments. Melissa Skerrit said, “These attractive, modern, and architecturally resilient homes enhance the city of Roseau and have uplifted and improved the lives of several of our citizens.”
While extending congratulations, she outlined, “Congratulations to all beneficiaries and safekeeping of these environmentally-friendly residences.”
Furthermore, she stated, “Ladies and gentlemen access to decent housing we know provides stability for vulnerable families and it lowers the risk that they will become homeless or destitute it provides a safe haven for seniors and declining incomes health challenges and increased medical costs it promotes better mental and physical health and improved quality of life quality housing helps create a stable environment for children contributing to improved educational outcomes further safe quality homes provide general health in providing stability freeing up your resources for food and health care and increasing access to education and other social services and these are the objectives we have set out to achieve with the construction of housing complexes in communities across Dominica and here in Roseau Central the new homes will positively impact the lives of my constituents from a wide range of backgrounds and today.
Despite the negative impact of the pandemic on our society and our economy major projects are still underway to improve the lives of our people and to ensure that they are able to sustain their livelihoods where the housing revolution is concerned we are seeing new developments sprung up in more communities with others about to get on stream later on this year.”
Many people congratulated the families for receiving these apartments. One of the users wrote, “Work we working… Congratulations to all the recipients. Take care of your apartments… well done to the Labour Party Government.”
Another wrote, “Wow, great job, PM. Congrats to the recipients, take good care of it. God is good all the time. Blessings,” and the third one mentioned, “Wow! Congratulations to all recipients, and well done to the PM and his government for responding to the needs of ordinary people. For the naysayers, tell the recipients that they are not deserving of such a needy gift.”
