PM Pierre greets newly elected President & Vice President of Taiwan

PM Philip J Pierre congratulated to the newly elected President, H.E. Lai Ching-Te and Vice President of Taiwan, H.E. Ambassador Hsiao Bi-Khim.

Castries, Saint Lucia: Prime Minister Philip J Pierre extended congratulations to the newly elected President, H.E. Lai Ching-Te and Vice President of Taiwan, H.E. Ambassador Hsiao Bi-Khim.

It is to be noted that the Government of Saint Lucia took to their official social media handle (Facebook) on their well-earned electoral triumphs.

Notably, the event marked a momentous milestone in the chapter of Taiwan’s political landscape. Moreover, it strengthens the bonds between both nations.

Noting this, the Saint Lucian government expressed their delight and valued the basic principles of peace, democracy and prosperity. Further to this, the people of Taiwan also appreciated for their active and continuous involvement in the democratic process.

“This momentous occasion not only marks a significant chapter in Taiwan’s political landscape but also strengthens the bonds between our nations. The Government of Saint Lucia values the principles of democracy, peace and prosperity, and applauds the people of Taiwan for their active participation in the democratic process”, stated the government of Saint Lucia.

Further, PM Pierre and his government are looking forward to stronger ties and partnerships between both countries, which will help the economy and trade of Saint Lucia and Taiwan flourish.

Moreover, PM Drew expressed his delight and greeted the new government under President-Elect H.E. Lai Ching-Te and Vice-President-elect H.E. Ambassador Hsiao Bi-Khim with continued success, prosperity and unity.

Additionally, in November 2023, Taiwan’s Ambassador- Peter Chia-Yen Chen, met the Minister of Agriculture to discuss the recommendations regarding food nutrition labelling.

Notably, the Taiwan Technical Mission presided over eight advanced chemical analysis training courses in response to a request from Mr Barrymore Felicien- Permanent secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture, where six people participated.

Not only this, the partnership between Saint Lucia and Taiwan could be seen when Saint Lucia organized a three-week workshop on “Bamboo Works”, which was held with the support of the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF) in collaboration with the Embassy of Taiwan.

The activity fell under the Youth and Women Empowerment project, which was created by the Minister of Tourism and Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire.

The coordinator of the workshop is Ya Ching Lee, and this was her second workshop in this island nation as she had already participated in a similar workshop for hand-crafters in Choiseul in 2021.
