West Indies in ICC T20 World Cup 2024 semi-finals after commanding victory over England

The West Indies women team made it to the semi-finals of the 2024 T20 World Cup with a commanding 6 wicket victory against England with 2 overs to spare.
The match was played on Tuesday, 15th October, 2024 at Dubai International Stadium. It began with the West Indies winning the toss and deciding to bowl first. The openers of the England, Maia Bouchier and Danni Wyatt-Hodge failed to showcase their performance as they got caught out in just 14 and 16 runs respectively.
After the early departure of the opening batters, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Heather Knight formed a solid partnership, contributing 57 and 21 runs respectively. The well-deserved half century by Brunt helped the team in leading to a competitive total of 141 runs.
Moreover, Aly Fletcher remained the star player of the West Indies as she took 3 crucial wickets by giving away only 21 runs. She also set a new T20 record for the most T20 International wickets by a West Indies Women’s player in a calendar year.
The West Indies team also remained outstanding in their batting section as the opening pair, Hayley Matthews and Qiana Joseph gave a solid start to the team, scoring 67 runs in just 6 overs.
The England team missed out on several opportunities but they finally got their breakthrough in 12th over when Nat Sciver-Brunt dismissed Qiana Joseph. The continuous mistakes by the England players got heavy on them which took away this match from their hands, making the way for the West Indies team into the semi-finals of ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
The four teams who reached semi-finals include, West Indies, South Africa, England and New Zealand. The Semi-Finals 1 will be conducted between Australia and South Africa on 17th October, 2024 at Dubai.
On the other hand, the Semi-Finals 2 will be held between West indies and New Zealand on 18th October, 2024 at Sharjah.
