Dominica: Yearly carnival of Dominica has been dropped again due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
In this weekly, Anou Pale, Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit, explained the possible threats of large gatherings of individuals during these occasions.
He advised the citizen of Dominica to discourage the illegal entrance of people as it holds the possibility of community transmission. Following protocols can make room for no spread of the virus.
The Prime Minister declared a sheer increment in COVID-19 cases in sister nations like Saint Lucia, Barbados, St Vincent, and the Grenadines should serve as an alarm.
He added we should be more vigilant than ever to defeat coronavirus.
He mentioned that Antigua has fully moved to online schooling for an indefinite period, & some other countries are also shifting to lockdowns.
PM Skerrit further noted bounding gatherings the entire week and stated this is not the time to gather in numbers.
He revealed that Dominicans must not take the circumstance carelessly as Dominica only has thirteen active deadly coronavirus cases.
Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit also addressed the issue of illegal entry in Dominica and stated every person should solve the problem by reporting the breaches.
He asserted that now is the time to put “our health and health of the nation first.”
Furthermore, he advised people to follow the protocols, spend time close to home with families and avoid any gatherings.
Prime Minister also pronounced that Dominica’s economy and livelihoods could not take another hard hit at this time, and everyone should be mindful of this.
Referring to the employment rate despite the pandemic, the Dominican Prime Minister declared that the government is investing in several projects to keep its people’s jobs.
Furthermore, he discussed scholarship programs that can help several people. He added, “We have to teach people in a right way” to help people become more than literate; he emphasized to become people more diligent and take their careers seriously.
