Wadadli Elite Stingerz of Antigua and Barbuda wins first-ever Kreyol Basketball Championship

Wadadli Elite Stingerz of Antigua and Barbuda claimed the first-ever Kreyol Basketball Championship on Sunday, 25th August 2024 at the Massacre Indoor Sports Complex in Dominica.

Wadadli Elite Stingerz of Antigua and Barbuda wins first-ever Kreyol Basketball Championship

Wadadli Elite Stingerz of Antigua and Barbuda claimed the first-ever Kreyol Basketball Championship on Sunday, 25th August 2024, held at the Massacre Indoor Sports Complex in Dominica.

The Kreyol Basketball Championship took place in the country from 22nd August to 25th August 2024. In this championship, six teams from across the Caribbean region competed against each other with a vision to showcase their talent, abilities, skills and techniques.

The six teams that participated in this competition includes, Dr. Darroux PSC Falcons (Dominica); D-Treads Blazers (Dominica); Paix Bouche Super Eagles (Dominica); Wadadli Elite Stingerz (Antigua); Soufriere Kings (Saint Lucia) and CCB (Guadeloupe).

The Tournament began with two competitive games conducted between Wadadli Elite Stingerz and Dr. Darroux PSC Falcons. Wadadli Elite Stingerz emerged victorious, winning 75-63. Meanwhile, the other game was won by D-Treads Blazers who secured a close victory over Soufriere Kings, defeating them 69-68.

On the second day of the tournament, Wadadli Elite Stingerz maintained their momentum as they won the game, this time against Bouche Super Eagles, scoring 80-66. GGB from Guadeloupe won the second game of the day, defeating Soufriere Kings with 75-65 points.

On day three, D-Treads Blazers earned a spot in the final, defeating GGB by 70-64 scores. And, on the final day two matches were held, first was played for the third spot between GGB and Dr. Darroux PSC Falcons. GGB defeated Falcons by 8 points, with a final score of 88-80.

Wadadli Elite Stingerz dominated the entire final game against D-Treads Blazers, winning the game by 88-61 to claim the title. After the exceptional victory by the team, T-Shawn Lewis was awarded the Most Valuable Award for scoring the highest goals and Byron Andrew was recognized with the Coach of the Tournament title.

This four-day tournament brought all the basketball lovers together and gave them an opportunity to display their skills, talents, abilities, and techniques.

This tournament was not only a celebration of basketball but also an opportunity for the Caribbean citizens to engage with other community members and promote regional solidarity.

Following this exceptional victory by the team, the Government of Antigua and Barbuda also extended congratulations to Wadadli Elite Stingerz for winning the first Kweyol Basketball Championship in Dominica.

They also appreciated the idea of hosting Kreyol Basketball Championship and stated that it is a great platform for the basketball players to showcase their techniques and get an opportunity to foster good relations with other players and a chance to represent their nation on an international platform.
