T&T to get donation of 82,000 vaccines from Government of Canada

Trinidad and Tobago would be receiving the shipment of 82,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. This shipment is coming from Canada. Canadian Minister of International Development Karina Gould gave this updation on the vaccine doses.
According to the statement by the Government of Canada said that they had selected the twin-island nation of Trinidad and Tobago for the donation of the vaccines. After surveying the based on need, minimizing wastage, and maximizing the public health impact and the country’s capacity to deploy them immediately, they took this decision.
The statement of the Canadian Government reported that they would be donating over 82,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to the twin-island of Trinidad and Tobago through a bilateral agreement. These doses have been already arrived in Canada but are in excess of their domestic needs. These excess doses are supposed to be delivered to Trinidad and Tobago in the future. The Government of Trinidad and Tobago will manage the administration of the vaccines according to manufacturing guidelines and public health best practices.
183 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported in Trinidad and Tobago. According to the statistics, T&T experienced 9 deaths due to the COVID-19 virus. The stats show the constant positivity rate that the country has been experiencing.
Till present total of 2,75,282 tests have been conducted in Trinidad and Tobago at both public and private facilities. In these total tests, 39,345 confirmed cases till present, out of which 32,454 have been fortunately recovered.
The total number of positive patients in Trinidad and Tobago had reached 5,781 in this 183 are new cases that had been reported recently in the last 24 hrs.
339 patients have occupied the hospitals at present in T&T. 1,110 patients have also died due to the COVID-19 virus in the country.
Till 4 pm 4,03,251 patients have been given the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines out of these vaccinated persons, 91,849 got AstraZeneca Oxford vaccine, 3,11,202 got Sinopharm vaccine and 200 doses of Pfizer.
