Trinidad and Tobago: Police Service has recovered two stolen vehicles and seized a firearm during exercises conducted in the North Eastern Division.
Around 11:30 am on Thursday, 13th October, 2022, officers stopped a white Toyota Aqua vehicle at 7th Avenue West Extension, Malick. When they examined the vehicle, they observed the chassis number had been tampered with. Further checks revealed that the vehicle had been reported stolen in the Southern Division in August. The vehicle was seized, and the driver, a 34-year-old contractor from San Juan, was detained and conveyed to the Stolen Vehicles Office, Port of Spain.
The second vehicle, a white Nissan AD wagon, was discovered on Monday, 17th October, when officers executed warrants in the San Juan, Morvant and Barataria districts. During the course of the exercise, officers received pertinent information and then proceeded to the corner of 8th Avenue and 7th Street, Barataria.
While searching a bin at the location, officers discovered a black plastic bag containing a Smith and Wesson firearm. The revolver was seized and taken for further processing.
According to the TTPS, the investigations in the matter are ongoing.
Such cases are quite common in Trinidad and Tobago, earlier the police service of the twin-island country arrested a man who stole a chainsaw, which was recovered later.
Officers of the Rio Claro Police Station recovered a stolen chainsaw and arrested a man yesterday, Wednesday, 19th October 2022, after they received a report of a house break-in at Navet Village, Rio Claro.
According to a police report, on Monday, 17th October 2022, a 49-year-old resident of Rio Claro went out, and when returned home, she observed that many of the items were missing, with an estimated value of $31,000.
PC Sutherland is continuing enquiries, police officials informed.
