The list of Chevening Scholarship awardees released, 15 students selected

Under the Chevening Awards programme, 15 Eastern Caribbean Scholars from 7 Caribbean countries received the opportunity to study for master programmes in the United Kingdom.

The students from St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, St Lucia, St Kitts and Nevis have gotten the opportunity to study in the UK under the renowned Chevening Scholarship.

High Commissioner to Eastern Caribbean & Barbados Scott Furssedonn Wood, while sharing his views on Twitter, said, “So proud of our fifteen 2021 Chevening scholars from the Eastern Caribbean. Talented individuals are determined to bring about change in their communities. I hope that studying in the UK will empower them to make a real difference.”

Lorielle Robertson: St. Vincent & the Grenadines
She will pursue an MSc in Development Economics & Policy at the University of Manchester. The Economist plans to use Chevening to make a positive contribution to the development of the economy.

Julonna Peterson: St. Vincent & the Grenadines
Julonna will pursue an MSc in Developmental Disorders at Lancaster University. The 15-year member of the SVG Cadet Force plans to champion inclusive education – especially for those with learning disorders.

Sharifa George: Antigua & Barbuda
Sharifa will pursue an MSc in Strategic Marketing at the University of Sussex. The PR professional intends to use Chevening to support the public sector better & help SMEs maintain their viability in highly competitive markets.

Malaeka Goodwin: Antigua & Barbuda
Malaeka will pursue an MSc in Forensic Accounting from the University of Portsmouth. Malaeka plans to support the implementation of strategies for effective tax administration & reinforce the infrastructure to carry out this work.

Jeniece St. Romain: Antigua & Barbuda
Jeniece will pursue an LLM in International Trade Law at the University of Leeds. The Attorney-at-Law, among other accolades, plans to expand trade opportunities through legislative reform aimed at present barriers.

Chad Monerville: Barbados
Chad will pursue an MSc in Real Estate from the Uni of Reading and Henley Business School. The RICS Registered Valuer & Lecturer would focus on building technical capacity in the Built Environment, business, civil society, & academia.

Shaquille Newton: Barbados
Shaquille will pursue an LLM in Drafting Legislation, Regulation & Policy at the University of London and the School of Advanced Study. The Attorney-at-Law in the AG’s Chambers plans to assist in drafting legislation to meet its societal needs & through academia.

Annika Bellot: Dominica
She will pursue an LLM in Environmental Law, Policy & Governance at Birkbeck, University of London. Annika plans to contribute to legislation & policy development that promotes environmental sustainability in & the region by extension.

Arya Redhead: Grenada
Arya will proceed in an LLM in Drafting Legislation, Regulation & Policy from the University of London and IALS, U of London. The Attorney-at-Law in the AG’s Chambers & Lecturer plans to make a substantial contribution to the enhancement of Grenada’s legal system.

Michelle Slack: St. Kitts & Nevis
Michelle will pursue an LLM in Drafting Legislation, Regulation & Policy at the University of London and IALS, U of London. She plans to use Chevening to support legislative reform in St Kitts, with a particular focus on the protection of vulnerable groups.

Yenver Caezar: St. Lucia
Yenver will pursue an MSc in Development Studies at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He aspires to use the skills acquired through Chevening to serve as an economic diplomat to St Lucia, advocating for his country in multilateral & bilateral fora.

Sherneil Charlery: St. Lucia
Sherneil will pursue an MSc in Sport and Exercise Biomechanics at Leeds Beckett University. The founder of Supporting Girls in Sports organisation plans to use her Chevening knowledge to continue to contribute to the holistic development of sports in the region.

Lucius Doxerie: St. Lucia
Lucius will pursue an MSc in Economics & Finance for Development at the University of Bradford. The entrepreneur, with a passion for social & economic development, will use Chevening to help start-ups in St Lucia strengthen their business models.

Windia Jaunai: St. Lucia
Windia will pursue an MSc in International Marketing from the University of Leicester. The entrepreneur plans to use Chevening to help prioritise the shift in export diversification in St Lucia to support a more shock resistant economy.

Chadel Mathurin: St. Lucia
Chadel will pursue an MSc in Global Health and Development at the University of London. The social worker & Early Childhood Development Officer is excited to return to St Lucia & contribute to policy work that supports equitable access to healthcare.
