St Thomas: Teens charged for raping 15-year-old girl behind church

Kingston, Jamaica: The police have arrested and charged Two teenage boys on charges of rape, aiding and abetting after they sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl in Yallahs at St Thomas. 

It is to be noted that the incident took place on New Year’s Day, and they were arrested by the Jamaica‘s police on the same day. However, they got charged for the offence last week. 

According to the reports, the duo dragged the girl behind the church at the Ramble district of St Thomas, and they forcibly got into sexual intercourse with the victim against her will. 

In due course of time, a 15-year-old managed to escape the place, and she made a report to the police regarding the terrifying incident that happened to her. 

Upon receiving the report, the investigating officers immediately responded. Following a question-and-answer session, they arrested the teens and charged them. 

A report further disclosed that their court date is currently being scheduled.

Additionally, the news has been shared on various social media pages, and many people took to their official Facebook handle to express their concern regarding the spike in crimes in the country. 

While reacting to the news, a person named Andrea Gayle commented, “Demons take over the world. Omg, what is going on in my parish? Cut off their manhood and stuff it in their mouth. What is wrong with these lunatics? Can’t they find themselves a woman to love?”

Another FB user, Jacqueline Watson Harding, wrote, “I salute this child for coming forward and exposing these people. I hope the court system ensures that she gets justice. May god help her to heal. It breaks my heart that anyone should have this kind of experience.”

If sources are to be believed, it has been said that the nation is also reported to be witnessing high levels of unreported sexual assaults such as rape in the community. The women in Jamaica are most at risk in their homes, as more than half of all violence against women occurs in the home itself.
