St Lucia tops Group B after thrilling 2-1 win over Grenada in Concacaf Nations League

Team St Lucia topped the chart among Group B with their win at Concacaf Nations League 2024 yesterday at the Kirani James Athletics stadium. The team defeated Grenada with 2-1 at their home stadium.

The football match began with a slow start as the pitch didn’t seem to be ideal for both teams. As the game started gaining momentum, both the teams became familiar with the pitch leading St Lucia to score their first goal.

Forino scored the opening goal with a strong kick, however, it didn’t let Grenadians lose hope as they continued attacking stronger. However, the enthusiasm didn’t last long as within a few more minutes St Lucia scored another goal.

The second goal set Grenadines into a moment of grief as it was a result of a defensive error which led Baptiste to sweep in for another goal.

On the other hand, the second half came to be a little fruitful for Team Grenada as they scored their first goal but it didn’t lead them to victory.

Sandiford left the game in the middle of the first half as he suffered a blow to his back as he defended the ball which struck him and he fell badly. He was then replaced by Augustin, another player from the team.

Notably, Grenada defeated Saint Martin in their opening match last week leading to high hopes among the team. Whereas, the win by team St Lucia led them to the top of Group B and they remain undefeated in the highly celebrated football league for this season.

St Lucia over the course will play two more matches at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground against Saint Martin next month. Winning these games will lead their way to enter Group A.

Following matches in October, St Lucia will also compete against Grenada on 15th November and Curacao on 18th November, providing the fans a taste of another immense competition among both teams.

Grenada, with their defeat, hopes for a comeback in their following matches. Although this defeat was an obstacle to their road to ultimate victory, they appeared more enthusiastic and passionate about performing better in the future.
