St Lucia makes week long plans to celebrate World Tourism Day

St Lucia is one of many Caribbean nations known for its tourism industry. The nation boasts of beautiful beaches and sceneries, the likes of which are hard to find in other parts of the world. As is obvious, St Lucia has an affinity for its tourism industry and celebrates it with pomp and gusto.

With that in mind, St Lucia is gearing up for The World Tourism Day on the 27th of September 2023, with a week-long itinerary, chock full of events. The celebration begins on the 24th and is going to last till the 30th of September.

On the 24th of September, an event has been organized at the Babonneau Good Sheperd Parish, Babonneau, where tourism officials have given an open invitation to one and all. The event begins at 8:00 and aims at bringing a reverent crowd closer to God through a community event.

On the 25th of September, is ear marked for a community tourism event which will provide visitors with targeted information and testimonials meant to help develop tourist experiences.

The 26th of September has been booked for a round table conference, which has been dubbed the ‘Tourism Policy Round Table’. This event will be aired live on all GIS platforms and will bring many Ministers of governments under one umbrella to discuss policy matter related to tourism.

The 27th has one of the most exciting events of the week. The day is booked for a ‘Culinary Showdown’ which will pair seasoned and unseasoned chefs to build intriguing teams of one expert and one novice. The event will take place at 10:00am at Point Seraphine.

The 28th of September is for an event which brings the general public into the fold as well. ‘Blaze in Blue’ is going to be used as a call to action, to ask citizens to wear blue. This is being done to show solidarity with developing sustainable tourism.

The 29th of September will be used for a documentary on green investment undertakings by tourism establishments. The theme of the day is ‘going green to stay clean’ and the event is aimed at developing sustainable industry perspectives.

The 29th of September is being used for a great cause. The day will be celebrated as the ‘National Beach Clean Up’ day. On this day, a nation-wide cleanliness drive is planned in an effort to promote environmental conservation and a sustainable use of resources, now and in the future.

The 30th of September is another exciting day which closes out the week-long celebration. A private vs public Futsal Event has been organized. A friendly football game will be played with the purpose of promoting camaraderie among stakeholders. A noble and interesting idea indeed.
