St Kitts and Nevis: Keys Community Centre renamed Phillips-Jones Multi-Purpose Center
St Kitts and Nevis acknowledged the valuable contribution of Louise Phillips-Jones and hosted an occasion to pay homage to the life and service of a community leader.

The Keys Community Center of St Kitts and Nevis has been renamed and rededicated to the Louise Phillips-Jones Multi-Purpose Center on Sunday, 10th November, 2024.
The Government of St Kitts and Nevis acknowledged the valuable contribution of Louise Phillips-Jones and hosted an occasion to pay homage to the life and service of a community leader. Louise Phillips-Jones was a teacher who has dedicated several years of her life, for the development of the students of St Kitts and Nevis.
This renaming ceremony was attended by several delegates including, the Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew, his wife, Diani Jimesha Prince-Drew, and other government officials. The family members of Phillips-Jones and other residents of the Keys community were also a part of the ceremony.
The Prime Minister, Dr. Terrance Drew shared the glimpses from the ceremony and referred Phillips-Jones, a dedicated teacher, mentor, supervisor and leader. He said that Jones has touched the lives of countless families with her work and has the legacy that has woven into the very fabric of the community.
He shed light on the Phillips-Jones Multi-Purpose Center and stated that this building is a testament to the strength and resilience of the Keys community. He said that this centre has been renamed with a vision to acknowledge the contributions and honor the life of a true champion from the community.
“Yesterday, the Keys Community gathered to acknowledge the contributions and honor the life of Mrs. Louise Phillips-Jones through the renaming and rededication of the Keys Community Center, which will now be known as the Louise Phillips Jones Multi-Purpose Center,” noted PM Terrance Drew.
Also, this is the first time in St Kitts, that a community center has been renamed in honour of a deserving community member. As per the details shared by the authorities, the late Louise Phillips-Jones was teaching at the community center, when it functioned as a primary school for many years. She had played a significant role in helping to mould the minds of the children of Keys village.
The Prime Minister Terrance Drew extended gratitude to Dominic Stevens who played a huge in bringing this project to life. He also acknowledged the dedicated efforts of all those individuals who gave their time to the rehabilitation of the new multi-Purpose Center. “This was indeed a community-led project which shows the spirit of Keys.”
As per the details, the newly renamed Louise Phillips-Jones Multi-Purpose Center will serve as a hub for after-school programs, community gatherings, sports, and learning opportunities. This center was also recently renovated and outfitted with new windows, doors, furniture and fencing, aiming to provide a comfortable and memorable experience to all the visitors.
