Skyla Connor from St Kitts and Nevis wins bronze medal in 50m freestyle

Skyla Connor of St Kitts and Nevis returns home with a bronze medal in the 50m freestyle event, where she participated in the 2nd Inter-Club Invitational Swim Meet organized by the Pirates Swim Club Barbados.

She not only secured 3rd position in the 50m freestyle race but also registered her personal best timings, 29.97 sec. Skyla had already been in the pool for the 50m breaststroke race, where she earned 4th place with a new Personal best of 39.90.

Meanwhile, in her third event, the 100m Individual Medley (IM), which includes 25m of each of the four strokes, Skyla Connor finished her race in 4th position, achieving her personal best, i.e. 1:20.99.

While shedding light on her achievements in 2nd Inter-Club Invitational Swim Meet, the St. Kitts Nevis Aquatics Federation noted that this improvement is a testament to the unwavering determination and hard work that Skyla, coach James Weekes and the team has put in over the last couple of months.

They noted that the credit also goes to the St. Kitts Nevis Aquatics Federation summer clinic ending with the training with renowned swim coach Dave Farmer.

Skyla Connor has all worked hard over the summer, where she had the chance to train with Dave Farmer, experienced and renowned World Aquatics recommended coach, focusing on stoke analysis, technique reinforcement and perfection.

Upon her return from Barbados, the President of the St. Kitts Nevis Aquatics Federation, greeted Skyla and extended her congratulations for her outstanding accomplishments including the new national records.

The President noted that Skyla competed in all of the events including, the freestyle, the backstroke, the breaststroke, and the butterfly. He lauded her performance and stated that she has done tremendously well in all the events.

He further asserted that he also received so much commendations from one of their international coaches who was here in in the in the summer to train the team along with Skyla.

The President noted that Dave Farmer also liked Skyla’s performance and stated that she is in line for medals for the upcoming OECS championship, which is scheduled to take place in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Moreover, Skyla Conor extended gratitude to all her coaches and the St Kitts and Nevis Aquatic Federation for allowing her to represent her nation in Barbados. She stated that she is all set for the upcoming OECS Championship and is optimistic to bring back more medals for her country.

OECS Swimming Championships are an annual event, featuring nations from the OECS with competitive swimming programs. And, the 32ndAnnual OECS Swimming Championships will take place from November 8th to 10th at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Center in Ratho Mill, St. Vincent.
