Seamer Shamar Joseph is all set to return home from the West Indies Men’s Tour of Sri Lanka. He will miss the third and final match of the ICC Men’s ODI series against Sri Lanka that has been scheduled to take place on Saturday, 26th October, 2024, at Pallekele International Stadium, Sri Lanka.
As per the details, Shamar Joseph has opted out of the series due to personal reasons. The Windies Cricket has not announced any replacement for the last match of the series. Therefore, this decision has been taken by the authorities as the entire squad will return to the Caribbean region in the coming days.
This series began on 20th October, 2024 and Sri Lanka has taken a lead of 2-0. They have sealed the three-match ODI series with a game in hand. The experts revealed that this series has not turned out in Shamar Joseph’s favour as he did not get a chance to play in any of the games.
FIRST MATCH OF THE ODI SERIES
The first game of the three-match ODI Series began with the Windies winning the toss and deciding to bat first. The game began on a great note for West Indies when Sherfane Rutherford and Roston Chase were batting. However, the interruption by rain destroyed the hope of the players and the Windies fans as the DLS method was chosen in the end which did not work out in their favour.
When Sri Lankan batters came to bat, the Windies bowling section began brilliantly with the ball. Gudakesh Motie remained excellent, taking three crucial wickets by giving away 47 runs. After that, Sri Lankan batters got their momentum which helped them in chasing the target with ease.
SECOND MATCH OF THE SERIES
The second match of the ODI series against Sri Lanka began with Sri Lanka winning the toss and deciding to bowl first. The massive knocks by Sherfane Rutherford and Gudakesh Motie helped the team in leading to a total of 189 runs with the loss of 10 wickets in just 36 overs.
Rutherford and Motie turned out to be the saviours for the team, 80 and 50 runs in 82 balls and 61 balls respectively. This total was easy for Sri Lankans to chase as they scored 190 runs in just 38.2 overs.
Since, the West Indies have lost both the games but they will be aiming to end on high note. However, the Lankans would be eying to end the series with a clean sweep.
