Saint Lucia to celebrate CPL 2024 victory with event at Derek Walcott Square

The Saint Lucia Cricket Association and the authorities will celebrate the first ever victory at the Caribbean Premier League on 12^th November, 2024 at the Derek Walcott Square. The celebration will include the players of the Saint Lucia Kings, commemorating their commanding win over Guyana Amazon Warriors in CPL 2024.

This celebratory concert will begin with Students Meet and Greet to be held from 2 pm – 4 pm. It will be followed by an electrifying concert which will take place from 4 pm to 6 pm in which several local artists will grace the stage with their presence and make the audience dance to their tunes.

Therefore, the tourism authority of Saint Lucia has urged the citizens to join the event with their friends and family members. This is to celebrate the significant milestone achieved by Saint Lucia Kings after winning their first-ever title at the Republic Bank Limited Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

The Minister of Tourism of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire has also extended an invitation to all the citizens to join them in celebrating the big win by Saint Lucia Kings at CPL 2024. Notably, the final of the CPL 2024 was held at the Guyana National Providence Stadium on 7^th October.

The final between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Saint Lucia Kings turned out to be very interesting as it was a low-scoring thriller. But, the quickfire knock by Aaron Jones and Roston Chase helped Saint Lucia Kings win the ultimate title by 6 wickets, chasing down the target of 138 runs in just 18.1 overs.

Also, Noor Ahmad of Saint Lucia Kings was outstanding throughout the tournament as he was awarded the title of Player of the Tournament. He took 22 wickets in just 12 matches, showcased his techniques and abilities to take some crucial wickets, leading his team towards victories.

Moreover, Saint Lucia Kings were one of the consistent teams throughout the tournament with each player showcasing their grit and excellence. The Coach of the Kings, Darren Sammy also called this victory a display of true team efforts which helped them win the title of CPL 2024.

Also, Saint Lucia Kings played 10 league games in total, out of which they won 7 and lost 3. The Highest run scorer for the team was Johnson Charles who proved to be the essential asset for his team, contributing with runs in each game.
