It is to be noted that the last three wickets fell with a score of 178.
Saint Lucia Under-23 won the toss and chose to bat first on a challenging wicket. This decision surprised many, including the television commentators. The hosts were dismissed for 187 all out in 38 overs, with Simeon Gerson saving the day for the Saint Lucians with a top score of 65 off 60 deliveries, six fours, and four sixes.
Lee John made 30, skipper Ackeem Auguste contributed 28, Zaire Antoine 14, Noelle Leo 10, while extras totaled 18. Bowling for Dominica Under-23, E Doctrove took 4 for 39, K Phillip 2 for 36, JN Alexander 2 for 44, while T Leblanc and MI Xavier took a wicket each, as Saint Lucia Under-23 lost wickets at 26, 50, 54, 54, 56, 56, 58, 92, 111, 116, and 187.
In their turn at the crease with a target of 188, Dominica Under-23 were bowled out for 178 in 45.2 overs, with K Phillip leading the attempt to victory with 36, K George made 35, JE Joseph 33, D Alexander 27, skipper Stephan Pascal 24, and A Tavernier 11; the only batsmen to reach double figures, while extras were 10.
As mentioned earlier, Chicot bowled the spell of a champion, taking 5 for 30 off ten overs, and received good support from Lee John, 3 for 37 from 8.2 overs, Isiah Jones 1 for 29, and Jayden Elibox 1 for 39, as the Dominica Under-23 lost wickets at 01, 03, 31, 75, 76, 119, 149, 178, 178, and 178, as Saint Lucia Under-23 grabbed the victory from the jaws of defeat by nine runs.
Thursday’s victory means that the Saint Lucia Under-23 won the inaugural Under-23 Bilateral Series 2-1, having won the three-day game by an inning and ten runs August 17 – 19, lost the first 50-Over by six wickers on August 21 and won the second 50-Over on August 22 by nine runs.
Ackeem Auguste of Saint Lucia Under-23 tops the batting aggregate with 384 runs at an average of 128.00 and a top score of 308. Dominica Under-23 Stephan Pascal was second with 237 runs at an average of 59.25 and a top score of 160. Lee John of Saint Lucia Under-23 was third with 131 runs, while Dominica Under-23 JE Joseph and C Leblanc were fourth and fifth with 98 and 88 runs, respectively.
Leading the wicket-takers were K Phillip of the Dominica Under-23 with seven wickets from 3 matches, averaging 27.57. Second was Sky LaFeuille with six wickets from 1 match at an average of 11.83, while Lee John was third with six wickets from 3 games at 26.50. Saint Lucia Under-23 Jayden Elibox and Tyrell Chicot were fourth and fifth in the wicket standings, with six wickets each from three matches at an average of 23.67 and 13.00, respectively.
