Saint Lucia announces four athlete squad for Paris Olympics
The Ministry of Sports of island nation announced Team Saint Lucia’s participation in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Castries, Saint Lucia: The Ministry of Sports of island nation announced Team Saint Lucia’s participation in the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, France. The announcement was made by Chef de Mission, Helena Renee- Emmanuel at the SLOC Headquarters in La Clery on Sunday, 13th July 2024.
The Paris 2024 Olympic Games will take place from 26th July to 11thAugust and it will be the biggest event ever organised in France. Paris will become the centre of the world i.e. the world of sport and many more. The games are a popular, multicultural festival which is shared by so many people around the planet and it represents a new adventure for France unlike anything it has experienced before.
As per the announcement, the Saint Lucian team will compete in three sporting disciplines i.e. Athletics, Sailing and Swimming. Two Saint Lucians will represent island nation in Athletics, 1 in Sailing and 1 in Swimming.
The World Indoor 60 meters champion and reigning Senior Sportswoman of the Year, Julien Alfred will lead Saint Lucia’s charge at the games. She will compete in the women’s 100 meters and 200 meters respectively and is all set to bring glory to the nation once again through her performance. On the other Michael Joseph will also be competing in the Men’s 400 meters and is all prepared to represent his country on a prestigious platform.
Moreover, Luc Chevrier will make his second appearance in the Olympics and will participate in Men’s Laser Radial as an Olympic Solidarity Scholar. On the other hand, the lone swimmer of Saint Lucia, Jayhan Odlum-Smith will be competing in the Men’s 100-meter freestyle.
The other officials who will be accompanying the participants to Paris include, Kevin McPhee for athletics, Frank Chevrier for sailing, Fred Vergnous for swimming and the Physiotherapist, Zhenya Allain.
Also, the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports have extended best wishes to Team Saint Lucia and sent every success at the games in Paris. Along with that, the citizens of the island nation have also extended best wishes to all the participants and are praying for their victory.
