Caribbean: Halloween is a holiday that is celebrated on the night of October 31. It is a time when people go trick-or-treating, dressed up in costumes. It is also a time when people decorate their homes with spooky decorations.
Halloween is around the corner; here is the reason why Caribbean countries do not celebrate this occasion. The countries in the Caribbean region do not celebrate Halloween for a variety of reasons. For many, it is simply not a part of their culture or religious beliefs. Others may view it as a commercialized holiday not reflective of their traditions. In some cases, it may be seen as a holiday that is too closely associated with death and the supernatural. Whatever the reason, Halloween is not a widely celebrated holiday in the Caribbean.
Halloween:
The tradition of Halloween started with the Celtic festival of Samhain. The Celts lived in (now) Ireland, the United Kingdom (U.K.), and northern France. They believed that on the night of October 31, the ghosts of the dead came back to earth.
To ward off these evil spirits, the Celts built bonfires and wore costumes made of animal skins. The Romans conquered the Celts in 43 A.D., and they brought their own traditions to the festival. The Romans had a festival called Pomona Day, named after the fruit and tree goddess. On this day, people would exchange gifts of fruit and nuts. The tradition of Halloween was brought to the United States by Irish immigrants.
They would often celebrate Halloween by telling ghost stories and playing pranks on people. Today, Halloween is a fun holiday for both children and adults. Some people even decorate their homes with spooky decorations.
