Quake of 4.2 magnitude strikes Jamaica
A mild magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck several regions of western and central Jamaica on Tuesday.

                                                    Jamaica: A mild magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck several regions of western and central Jamaica on Tuesday. These tremors of quake were reported to be felt in Manchester and St. Elizabeth at around 5:46 pm.
The occurrence of earthquake was confirmed by the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management who shared the update on their official Twitter account. As per their reports the quake occurred in the parish of Manchester at about 15 kms south west of Christiana.
According to the details, no immediate report of any injury or death has been found yet. However, the terrible tremors of the earthquake call for residents and authorities to remain vigilant and alert. Also, the situation in the quake affected areas is reported to be normal. Therefore, the authorities have asked the citizens to follow preventive measures and remain cautious for such unforeseen conditions.
Moreover, the Hurricane Season has commenced on 1st June 2024 and from the last few days, Caribbean region has been witnessing several disruptions in weather conditions. Several nations have been observing heavy rainfall, thunderstorm activities, flood-like situations due to the passage of tropical waves.
Notably, just a day before, the tremors of the earthquake also shook-up Caribbean nations like Trinidad and Tobago and Antigua and Barbuda with a magnitude of 4.0 and 3.2, respectively. Such sudden and intense shaking of major earthquakes have become a huge cause of concern for the residents of the nation as the adverse effect of quake can lead to cause severe damage to infrastructure and loss of life.
Several citizens of Jamaica took to their social media accounts and extended gratitude to God for recording no death or any severe injury. They also asked the citizens to improve their deeds and work for the welfare of the country with a vision to promote a healthy environment in order to avoid such natural calamities in the future.
One person wrote “Jamaica is still blessed, lots of other countries would be in more trouble and witnessed no loss of lives. God thanks there’s still time to change our ways.”
“Felt it in Santa Cruz. It was hard. Thank God, we are safe,” wrote another user.
