Olympic medallist Julien Alfred continues to shine, wins 2 awards at CANOC Sports Awards
Julien Alfred was honoured at the inaugural CANOC Sports Awards which was held on Saturday, 19th October, 2024 in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands.

Saint Lucia’s Olympic Champion and first-ever gold medallist, Julien Alfred is continuing to bring glory to the nation’s name. The Olympian has been recently honoured with two awards including, the Caribbean Female Sports Personality of the Year and the Caribbean Breakthrough Award.
She was honoured at the inaugural CANOC Sports Awards which was held on Saturday, 19th October, 2024 in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands. It was a prestigious event which honoured the Caribbean’s best athletes, teams, and sports leaders, celebrating the sporting excellence of the region with a special focus on sustainability through the IOC sustainability awards.
The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J. Pierre also extended congratulations to the athlete for winning these two prestigious awards and continuing to become a beacon of hope and inspiration for all the athletes who aspires to represent their nation on an international platform.
He added that he is extremely grateful for the inspiration and pride that Alfred have brought to the citizens of Saint Lucia. While extending best wishes, PM Pierre stated “Continue to excel in all your endeavours Julien.”
He stated that these two awards claimed by Julien Alfred highlights her remarkable journey of her consecutive wins on an international platform. He added that her remarkable victories and the prestigious titles including, World Indoors 60m champion to Paris 2024 100m champion, and Wanda Diamond League 100m champion stand out Alfred as the top-ranked female athlete in the Caribbean region.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Dr Ernest Hilaire also extended best wishes to Julien Alfred and stated that they will continue to pray and wish for the athlete. He added that she deserves all the accomplishments which she has been receiving as it is a testament to her unwavering hard work and perseverance.
He noted that such accomplishments of Julien Alfred on an international platform shed light on impact that she has left both on the track and in the sports community.
Panam Sports also extended congratulations to Alfred for making a significant mark in the field of sports. “Our ambassador Julien Alfred has made her mark! With her unstoppable speed and dedication, she was honored as the Female Sports Personality of the Year and Caribbean Breakthrough Award at the Canoc Awards.”
