Georgetown, Guyana: President Irfaan Ali will address the Saint Lucia Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture during an extraordinary luncheon on Wednesday to discuss about the business opportunities in Guyana.

The chamber revealed that the President will assist the Chamber business leaders of Saint Lucia in terms of growing and achieving success in the business as Guyana. He will also share the insights, visions and prospects of the Guyana economy.

“It promises to be an enlightening and enriching experience for all attendees”, the Saint Lucia private sector body stated regarding the event that is scheduled to take place at the Harbour Club from 12:30 pm.

According to the reports, it has been noted that the country experienced a rapid increase in the economy under the leadership of President Ali. Moreover, the leader of Guyana had a warm welcome at Saint Lucia’s 45th Independence Anniversary celebration.

“His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali will speak on Opportunities to Do Business in Guyana”, a Chamber release said.

It is to be noted that the event is expected to bring positive outcomes and offer a special opportunity for learning, enhancing and networking between the communities. Noting this, it will strengthen the bilateral relations of both countries.

Furthermore, it is observed that a wide range of professional interests would undoubtedly contribute to the richness of the discussions and the success of the programme.

As per sources, wells in oil-rich Guyana extract 645,000 barrels of oil per day, resulting in $1.6 billion in revenue for the government in 2023. Due to which, the nation managed to grow its economy in size over the last five years.

Interestingly, the country went from one of the lowest economies to fastest-growing in the world for straight two years.

Moreover, the discovery of oil deposits in Guyana’s resource-rich Essequibo region, which covers more than two-thirds of the country, relighted a century-old border dispute with neighboring Venezuela. Due to such conditions, Venezuela claimed ownership of the Essequibo region.

Currently, Guyana has said that they are waiting for the decision of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) regarding the matter.
