President Ali attends ceremony of Barama Company Limited’s 30th Anniversary
President Irfaan Ali attended the ceremony of the 30th Anniversary of Barama Company Limited at its factory in Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara. Barama is also expected to launch a new product today.

Guyana: President Irfaan Ali attended the ceremony of the 30th Anniversary of Barama Company Limited at its factory in Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara. Barama is also expected to launch a new product today.
Before the start of the formal ceremony, the Head of State was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – Hugh Todd, the Minister of Natural Resources – Vickram Bharrat and Foreign Secretary- Mr Robert Persaud took a tour of the plywood factory of the company.
Barama Company Limited is one of the leading forest resource & wood products company in Guyana island country. The company’s core business includes the – sale of hardwood logs and sawn timber and the manufacturing of plywood, decking and flooring products.
In addition, the Head of State is also planning to notify the heads of government in the region about the agreement made between the Government of Venezuela and its opposition last week in Mexico City. While in conversation with the local media house, President Ali stated that he would inform the mediators of the meeting about the controversial agreement.
The President is likely to brief CARICOM heads during a virtual Special Emergency Meeting on Monday morning on the matter. At the same time, he has also make sure to update the – Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) during an upcoming meeting in Mexico and the United Nations via its Secretary-General António Guterres.
In his social media post, President Ali also praised the performance of Guyana Amazon Warriors and Romario Shepherd in the league which has helped them to confirm their place in the semi finale of CPL 2021
He cited, “So Proud of this young Guyanese. Why is he not in the West Indies T20 World Cup team?. His performance has been outstanding thus far in the CPL and there is absolutely no reason why this young All-Rounder should not be in the squad.”
