PM Skerrit joins UN Resident Coordinator in virtual meeting

Dominica: Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of Commonwealth of Dominica, members of Cabinet and senior public officers join UN Resident Coordinator Didier Trebucq and other UN Heads of Agencies for the High-level Talks on a roadmap to meet Dominica’s priorities.

The government of Dominica last week engaged in a high-level dialogue with the United Nations Sub-Regional team for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean to provide a roadmap to meet the priority needs of the government and people of Dominica.

The Dominica delegation was headed by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit and included members of Cabinet and Senior Public Officers.

According to the virtual meeting, the UN’s commitment to strengthening its relationship and coo-perations with Dominica was the objective. The purpose was to discuss sustainable development in the nation. 

National challenges, goals, future programme’s for development in Dominica was discussed in this high-level dialogue with the United Nations Sub-Regional team.

Didier Trebucq tweeted Thankful for the opportunity for a productive & strategic engagement between Hon PM of Dominica @SkerritR and his Cabinet Ministers with the @UNBdosandOECS team to discuss the UN’s upscaled joint commitments to Dominica & SIDS.

PM Skerrit welcomed the efforts of the UN development system to streamline their support to develop Dominica. UN has always been a support system for Dominica. According to PM Skerrit, “the UN has always been a trusted and reliable partner to Dominica.”

The discussion over producing a bridge between Dominica and UN where future projects encounter no setbacks.

Didier Trebucq stated, “UN would provide integrative support to unique need in enhancing the development of Dominica.”

Besides this, The United Nations is working closely with management in the Caribbean to safeguard the region’s most vulnerable population from the impact of the lethal coronavirus, COVID-19. Didier Trebucq, United Nations Resident Coordinator to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, recently announced the actions they are taking in the Caribbean.

Dominica to experience several future projects that can enhance the improvement in the nation. The International Airport system will boost the tourism sector as well as it will provide opportunities for visitors. Health and Wellness centres have been introduced in the nation for the well being of people.

Dominica has responded to COVID-19 systematically, and there are no death rates at all.
